Essence of Fall 10/15/2010

Picture
Finally posted to my website!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had her photographed for weeks now! I spent hours getting all of the pictures ready and then.......my computer got turned off! So nothing was saved :( but, now its done.  She was really just for fun. I dont think I am going to sell her. I love Fall and I really wanted to do somthing to show it! I feel like she is very pin-up .. at least her body type.  She is the biggest doll I have done to date standing at about 9 1/2 inches tall most of my dolls are about 6 or 7 inches.  I think of her movement (pose) as  that of a leaf sort of dancing and swaying about from the tree to the ground. Softly and swifly changing the highlighted trees bare with the hint of winter on the way. This beautiful weather will only last a few more weeks and, until then I will be in awe of the all the beautiful colors floating through the wind!

Zen 10/01/2010

I have been waiting on supplies for almost a month. Different things from dirrent parts of the world. In the mean time I have been practicing a whole bunch of techniques. I have been experimenting with different textures and liquid clays! I have been also trying to find the perfect eyelash and get better at applying them. That is mostly why my last three dolls eyes have been closed. :) This mermaid came out of nowehere really, and did  not even have a name until  two days ago! My husband said to me " she looks like she is doing Yoga or something.." so.. I came up with Zen! Unintentionally she is cymetrical with her fins and arms so her name is fitting.  I did two different photoshoots with her and I could hardly choose the best photos. In this pic of her she looks very peacfull and the blue background makes her skin pretty. Is the other photoshoot she is in a birdbath and the sun was shining beautifuly on her fins. So i went with the birdbath setting. I hope you like!!!!!

Now if I could only get around to blogging my "Essence of Fall" fairy before my aray of christmas dolls get finished!!!!:)

Tear Drops 09/06/2010

Picture
Tear Drops is her name.
I was working on another fairy ( fairy family to be correct) when I had an idea for a face.  I started sculpting and two and a half days later she was done!! She is crying. I handmade tears running down her face.  Her posture I feel really expresses her emotion .. not only the tears.  Her wings are made from REAL macaw and peacock feathers adorned with Sawaroski crystals! Her hair is wet against her because of her crying. <3  Now go check out her gallery- Click here!!

I entered myself and my website for this award last month.  I wrote a little bio on me as an artist and a walk through of my website.  I never thought it would go anywhere since I am really new compared to some other OOAK Artist out there! My website is featured on their website for the whole month!!!! The World of Froud has a lot to offer.  They(a family of three) hold huge conventions and concerts every year and each one of them are amazing artist! This is my newest "Vision". her name is Potion Genie.
The sketch is how most of my dolls come about!  I have so many ideas running through my head for new dolls and if I don't sketch them out they will not be remembered!:)lol Actually that drawing book has about twenty more just waiting on me! Usually I stray from my vision in the end because I come up with something while i am making it.  I am proud to say this one I actually stayed on target! haha.
I use to want to be a cartoonist... (for as far back as I can remember), So I have realized through sculpting that every one my dolls has an animated look about them. That is also where the drawing them out comes to play!
I don't have a crazy story for this one but, I do like her a lot. Something about her makes me think
 " I will make you a potion....for a price!":)

So we all know the story of Alice and her trip down the rabbit hole.  So many people have given their twist on every character in the story through clay! I have not yet seen Absolem as a woman or half human. So this is MY take on wonderland!
I had so much fun with this one!! I made her Hookah:) and Monocle out of beads!! <3  i sculpted her caterpillar tail out of blue clay and went wild with paint and of course slipper fitted feet!:) Staying true to the 1951 Disney version.  This inspired a whole category devoted to these beloved fables! I hope you guys enjoy her as much as i do!
ps. i threw in a picture that i edited with smoke vowels at the end of the gallery slide:) ABSOLEM PICS HERE!

alright .........what do you think? Myth?

The story is told by weary travelers...nomads in the dessert on the brink of dehydration.
It is said that when your  in the depths of the jungle or in the barren desert a mysterious woman is always watching over you.  If you are looking she will be there but, not alone and not exactly human.  She rides a massive elephant just as mysterious as herself.  He is as dark as night and silent as a mouse. No footsteps to hear of, no trumpets coming through his trunk. When people describe what they have seen...."she has wings" as if she were a fairy. Men are stunned at her amazing beauty. Although not one man has ever gotten close enough to talk to her. She is said to lead these travelers home and bring them to food and water. With a blink of an eye this "Elephant Ryder" disappears!
Is this tale real or fiction? she was caught on camera....go see...

I said i would finish her today...and i did!! She will be on auction by next week!
I was very motivated with her...she pretty much came out of nowhere! I had this piece of blown glass sitting on my shelf and i could not figure out how to use this thing! What sort of pose would she be in? what is her story?....then it came to me!! So here it is.....

The Keeper of Blue was not always the Keeper. When she was a little girl fairy she took a walk in the woods, happily enjoying the warmth of the sun poking through the trees. After hours of strolling she stumbled in to someone. She was so fascinated by her, it was a  beautiful women. She had sparking blue eyes and used them to lure her deeper into the woods.  They came upon a giant blue flower made of glass.  The women asked her if she wanted to take a seat on top of it, to see how it would feel.  Without even thinking about it she jumped up there as fast as she could! It felt like a story to her, she was so taken by this women. As she was feeling the smoothness of the glass the women asked if she would like a surprise...without answering the women (I suppose her eyes said yes for her) she pulled from behind her back a tear dropped shaped Crystal!!! The color of the stone was hypnotizing. Blue rays of light jumped off of it into the forest and cast a glow above the treetops. "for me?" she asked.  The woman pushed the stone to her and with a single touch her wings turned to stone and a sadness overwhelmed her.  "HaHA" said the women.  "Now you are the keeper and i am free!" the woman shouted.  She did not understand why she was laughing. They woman pranced away into the woods. All she heard was the echo of laughter.

Now that she understood what the stone did to her.  She vowed to herself never to do the same to another. Many journeyman came to visit her. Some people actually went on  treasure hunts to find the Blue stone.  As they found her she turned them away saying never to come back again.  So now... her excited blue eyes are sad, and stone wings will never take flight again.

The Keeper of Blue is stuck in this link.

If you need something Blue she holds it in the palm of her hand....She is the key to everything Blue.

With her i decided to go nuts with color, through paint! As you can see in the picture her clay color is very light! She really came to life after i added color. Since she keeps Blue i thought that it would affect her mood. Her pouty eyes are highlighted with purples and sparkles. She will have really smooth straight blonde hair and guess what.. i am finishing her Today!!
